ARKit tracking alone is not enough for high-end VFX compositing: it suffers from scale drift, micro-jitter, and sub-pixel sliding that become immediately glaring when placing ground-contact 3D objects or set extensions.
TrackingAID turns the iPhone into a high-precision data capture rig for an offline solver: it simultaneously logs video plates (4K or 1440p at 60 fps), ARKit poses, LiDAR depth maps and raw IMU telemetry, while providing live on-set preview with USDZ assets and a ghost slider.
On Mac, a custom solver runs global bundle adjustment, fusing sensor priors with optical feature tracks and masking out moving actors or vehicles via segmentation. The dedicated Blender add-on imports the complete take package—resolved camera, plate, LiDAR depth and ground plane—achieving sub-pixel reprojection accuracy without relying on expensive commercial suites.
